I'm paying 8400 for 700 square feet in Park Island with facilities and even a spa. Not as far out as Tung Chung. I feel that rent is always expensive in the middle of the city. But when you move out a little, you'll get a bit more for your money.

It's in New Territories. And it's very dog friendly as well. Lots and lots of dogs here. Have to warn you, no cars or taxis though. Shuttle buses to Tsingyi, Kwai Fong and Tsuen Wan. Ferries to Central and Tsuen Wan.

Transport is 24/7 though...I've gotten used to it. But then again, I work on the island. Hubby used to work in IFC, it was really convienient then but now, he's at Wanchai, he has to change to get onto the bus. However, in my opinion, it's worth it. A lot less crowd and it's peaceful, except for dogs that bark in the middle of the night sometimes.

But you also do know that you can get much better value once you move out of that core area.

Within 20 minutes by bus or by MTR you could be looking at 700 sq ft with facilities.
Oh yeah I know...I live there only because it's majorly close to work (10min walk, 3min cab), and I work ridiculously hours (730am start, ends at 630pm, plus entertainment in the Central area afterwards). And thank god for company-paid apartments!

For reference, our apt is just a little over 1000sqft in the center of Causeway Bay near the mtr for $20,000 HKD. I hear of similar apts going for $15,000 but they're probably older or perhaps a bit run down. Our building is also dog-friendly.
