Moving to HK finally (with a situation) - Need guidance...

    Greetings Fellow Expat'ers,

My company finally pulled the trigger and setup a HK subsidiary.

    HK$ 25,000 / month - Housing allowance

Am 32, Single and would like to maintain an active, social lifestyle.

Issue is need to be back in the US after ~3-4 months (for personal reasons) and then will be back in HK after a 2-3 month hiatus (hopefully).

Given that I need to be back in the US, not going to be moving my stuff initially - so what would be the best interim solution? Serviced apartments? Can I get a decent one for my budget (HK$25,000 pm)?

Any feedback/guidance would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    aus2hk

Saw something in the paper today that occupancy rates for serviced apartments is at 98% because of people leaving Japan. Could be an excuse to push the prices higher.

You might find getting a serviced appt further out for the first few months (cheaper, much more availability, as DeletedUser usefully highlighted in another thread, there is plenty of vacancies at the gold coast, for example, for which your budget is fine). Then you can suss out the locations and move closer to town for the "long term". Sure your active social life can survive 3 months of commuting!

See here for GC: Hong Kong Gold Coast Residences

Thanks everyone for your posts. I will be primarily working out of the home so commuting is not an issue. I will be covering all of Asia so proximity to the HK Airport Express stations would be desirable.

Do you have any ideas for Serviced Apartments near HK Station, Kowloon or Tsing Yi?

The Royal View Hotel has serviced appartments and a shuttle bus that runs to tsing yi station. I stayed there when I first arrived - it's not too badly priced and quite large by HK standards, which great sea views.
