Bringing Plasma/LCD TV from US to HK?

Husband accepted an offer in HK. Since company pays for all moving costs, I'd like to move our two TVs with us. But will we be able to use them in HK due to the NTSC/PAL issue? I've done some research online, but haven't been able to find a definitive answer. Does anyone have experience in this? Appreciate any help you can offer.

    There's also the electrical system. Here it's 220V, 50Hz.

I think not - the electrical supply is different, so you would need a transformer of some kind
It is so much easier in the movies
Alternatively I am leaving - you can buy mine ;-)

do you mind using an inefficient and bulky stepdown for your TV to run on HK native 240v ( cost around HK$700/US$90 for a 1000w )?

if you have a very large lcd/plasma, 50" plus, maybe worth it.

40" 1080p lcd sony/panasonic can be as cheap as HK$6000, led lcd around HK$8000 nowadays

PAL/NTSC shouldn't be an issue as you will most likely get a set-top box which can output Component (YUV) or HDMI. However you need to check if the TV can handle video signals with 50Hz. (Name make and model if you need some help to check)

As pointed out the voltage here is different, too, so you may need a step-down transformer if the TV doesn't support 220-240VAC.

Thank you all for the help. Make and Model is Panasonic TH-42PX80U. Looks like I'll definitely need a step down transformer. Raccon, can you please help with checking the video signal compatibility? I found the following from the manual:

Looks like it can't handle 50Hz signals, and since it's 120VAC only I am not sure it's worth the hassle of shipping it over and getting a step-down transformer.

Yeah, I agree it's probably not worth the hassle. Thanks for the help! Appreciate it.

Once you get here, you could check out the Applicance store chain such as "Broadway" and "Fortress" is almost like the BestBuy in the US

"Broadway" and "Fortress" are expensive places, you can save up to 20% of list price by doing your homework and going to either independent dealers or even citicall, max discount i have got from "Broadway" and "Fortress" was at 5% off list
