i like the idea of living in soho, but my job is in West Kowloon. nam cheong stop on the NTR. is this a hell of a commute ? the NTR seems the best way to travel , any ideas how long it would take, any comments would be much appreciated.

cheers mate, seems a lot of people think its a crazy idea to live on the island and commute to west kowloon. 10 min doesn't seem so bad.
Soho can be quite noisy from what friends tell me.
shelly street soho, closest station is central. thanks for the help.
why? for same amount of money, ie, HK$12,000 rent will possibly get you a 400 sq ft apartment in a old traditional chinese building ( soho consist of these), while in nam cheong, and same distance walking,. you could get a 1000 sq ft ( maybe 1200 sq ft) apartment in a old traditional chinese building for same walking distance to nam cheong station,
you could even get a pretty modern and plush apartment with at least 700 sq ft for the price in nam cheong area
BTW, it appears you will be walking closer to 12/15mins walk to hong kong mtr from shelley street ( not central mtr station) as you need to go on the tung chung line

Coming from SoHo (Shelley St), the Central-midlevels escalator takes you to Hong Kong Station (for the line to Nam Cheong) in about 5 minutes when it's going down between 6 and 10am, and back up in about the same time from 10:30am to midnight.
