Need Advice from people who live in Tseung Kwan O

Hi there, I am planning to move to HK in the next month or so and have viewed and want to live in Park Central, Tseung Kwan O but I have heard about the landfill smell news and it has affected all of Tseung Kwan O, can anyone verify this? in particular anyone living in Park Central, what areas have been affected?

Any info would help alot, thanks!

    Cathy

Cathay, I live down the road from Park Central in Lohas Park which is closer to the land fill. I haven't smelt anything out of the ordinary during my time here.

I used to live right by Park Central.

Yes you can smell the landfill on some days...but its not an issue the majority of the time.

It isn't that pleasant....but it isn't that bad either. Most of the time (around 75-80%) you won't notice anything. Basically ask yourself is you can grin and bear the inconvenience a couple of days a week when the wind is blowing your way. You need to shut your windows as its a prety sickly smell on those days.

I've since moved away from the area but it wouldn't stop me moving back. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Lohas park on the other hand is terrible (in my opinion)...the smell is really bad most of the time down there. I don't know how people put up with it.

Used to live in Park Central for 4 years and it was not a problem. Only on odd occasions there was an unpleasant smell but hello, this is HK, there are bad smells everywhere.

The new improved Tseung Kwan O: now odour-free up to four days a week. And now with 25% more motorway barriers. Disorientation or your money back!

I've lived in TKO for 4 yrs now, the first two at Ocean Shores...I may not have a sensitive nose, I don't really know, but the smell has never been 'horrendous' imho...

Bookblogger...did you get lost/beaten up in TKO? Seems you have a bit of a chip about the place...

No chip, just a dislike for bad town planning wherever it is found.
