    Hi,

Just started my first batch, brought the ingredients from the states, though.
Does anyone now, where to get CO2 tanks and/or refills? Most of the restaurant supply stores on Shanghai street deal with pots, pans, mixers, etc., so I haven't been successful there.

Hey, good luck with the brew. What is is you're making? Couldn't you bottle your beer after primary fermentation, with the secondary fermantation inside the bottle providing all the CO2 you need?

Thanks..... I'm working on a West Coast style amber ale...
Yes, I could go ahead and bottle the beer.... done that with a few batches back in the states, until I decided that kegging is so much more easy and fun... plus, you get to have draft beer ;-)

Except for the bit where you locate the CO2

Sounds great though. Good luck with the brew. Hopefully there'll be a tasting session for all on Geo Expat in a few months

All the bars who sell draught have it, so it must be available somewhere.

Have you had any luck locating a place to refill your CO2 bottles?

I just moved to HKG and am ready to start brewing, I just don't want to get started and find I've got a CO2 roadblock. No way I'm ever going back to bottling!

These guys might be able to help:

    Hong Kong Oxygen

Wouldn't mind trying some of your beer out!

Yeah, I found out that they rent out CO2 cylinders... they also do refills; they either pick up your cylinder, or you can drop it off in Tai Po Market. Don't know if they accept DOT stamps, or if they have to pressure test your cylinder.
It's kind of hard getting the right person to talk to, though.... and explaining what you want... I'm traveling right now, but can get more info when I'm back in HK.
The other day I asked the guys at Schnurrbart; they get their CO2 from the beer supplier, but I haven't followed up with those...

    Cheers

Funny, it was exactly Schurrbart ( the one in TST ) I had in mind when I wrote my answer last October. Please let us have the result as soon as you know it, because I plan to make Soda Water next summer.
