    I went around all the restaurant supply stores on Shanghai street to find a fridge that would fit 1 (or maybe 2) corny kegs, plus the CO2. Almost impossible.... either too huge, or just a tad bit to small, or way too expensive. (You could always have one custom made )
    I ended up getting me a used household fridge (one with the freezer compartment on top) from some used fridge street stall in Shek Kip Mei. Had to put the faucet on the door, but it works fine... and it was only HKD900.

    Where can I pick up a glass Carboy in Hong Kong?

    I left mine in the states. I have a Porter in a bucket for primary fermentation and would love to rack it to a carboy so I can watch the magic happen.

    Hey Viuk,

    I haven't seen them here, but you actually may want to try to get a hold of Watson's water - they deliver those plastic 5 gal water bottles, and who knows? They may have some old glass ones around. I order one from ibrew in Singapore, but it arrived in pieces...

    That may be an idea... I actually use those plastic 5 gal bottles for secondary fermentation. In the states, they sell them as "Better Bottle", especially for fermentation, but I believe they just use the regular jugs and put a fancy name on 'em to rip off people like me ;-)
    In any case, haven't made bad experiences with the plastic jugs so far.

    So, I am new here, but let me get this straight. . . a summary. . . Ingredients are vital to bring with me or have shipped to me, but the equipment I need to home brew should be easy enough to find in HK?

    Depends on the equipment.... Carboy, airlocks, siphon, kegs, etc. - definitely bring.... anything that you think you may really need.

    There's a lot of stuff you can get *somewhere* in HK, but good luck finding it (typically, I leave home with 8 items on my shopping list, of which I find about 4, plus another 2 that weren't on my list, but I bought em coz they were available). Anyway, I wouldn't take anything for granted.

    You can get CO2 cylinders here, but they have a different thread size. The problem is finding a regulator in HK... I'd just bring a regulator as well, if you plan on kegging (there's some manufacturer in the states where you can order the right nut, let me know if you need the info). Oh, yes, speaking of kegging... if you want to build a kegerator, bring those parts as well (though finding the right size fridge is a bit of a challenge)....

    Cider Press?

    Have any of you ever seen a cider press (aka fruit press) here in HK? I want to try pressing my own apple cider, but I'm loathe to trek out to Shanghai St. just for disappointment. I've found a few dealers that appear to ship internationally (from the EU or US), but the prices are pretty brutal even for very small capacity presses.
