Where to live in Hong Kong

Hey everyone I'm relocating from New York City to HK for work in a few months and I wanted to start exploring my living options. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been to HK a few times and loved the bar and club scene in LanKwaiFang and Wan Chai. One of the issues I had with staying in kwoloon was that the MTR does not run late night and I hate wasting so much money on cabs (I know who am I to complain, NYC is probably a lot worse) and not being centrally located.

I'd like to get a modern place either by myself or with a roommate near the party scene and close to some younger people and expats to make the transition easier. I'm currently paying about $1700 US a month for rent here in NYC. Can I get anything cheaper thats nice as well? Where should I be looking?

Anyone else in my shoes or have any suggestions?

And let me know if you are in the city and is down to party!

    that's roughly between $13,000-14,000HKD.
depends on how close you really want to be, and what you consider nice.

http://www.atria.hk/ i paid roughly $1700 the 1st month here at the atria in Soho. it is modern but way to small (250 sqft). now i am in a brand new serviced apartment near TST for about the same price with all the extra amenities (gym, laundry, swimming pool, etc). the taxi ride from kowloon (TST) to central is not that much...about US$10-12..and that's the price of a beer in NYC!

hi ignai, how did you find your apartment in TST? was it through an estate agent? looking to move to HKG for work next year and i'm looking for somewhere similar to where you live in terms of the price and additions it has.

    ucsdq,
you can also try causeway bay where there are many shops. Do note that the building could be very old. I used to live in sheung wan which is walking distant to central.

You probably want to look around the Mid Levels perhaps?

We used this website / agent to find our apartment.

The above website is made by one of the largest property agents in HK. You should be able to find some useful data regarding the rent.

For location, I think you can also try one of their website.

These 2 websites are what local using.
