Importing my car how it works?

Ok I don't want any replies telling me it's a bad idea and expensive etc I just want to hear from people who have done this! I know about the tax % but what I need to know is how does it all happen, the car is deliverd to the dock but who registers it and does the checks for emmision etc? Is there anybody out there who can tell me more about the process after the car arrives in HK?

    Thanks very much

    Daniel Tse

wholy crap, i was just checking out the tax for cars and if for example a car is worth 1M then according to the tax rate, you will need to pay 820000 in tax. WTF. so the car will cost 1.82 M. Bloody Outrageous.

is my maths screwed up or is the HK govt ripping us off.

I think your maths is right, and personally I would be perfectly happy if the tax were twice that much if that would get the number of vehicles on the road down and hence let me see the hills of Kowloon clearly again.

Looking at the Gov publication you could also claim it was a taxi !

Please refer to last Sundays edition of Top Gear UK to where that idea comes from.
