    Rich
    Same here

I was earning a lot more in London and taking a 40% cut is something I of course preferred not to do, Having checked my expenses etc its roughly the same as my take home pay in London.

    1. Less tax in HK
    2. Transportation is much cheaper in HK, I'll be spending about $1500 a month on an oyster card in London, In HK I'm looking at nearer $500.
    3. Lunch, $100 or so in London, $30 in HK
    4. Also I'm supplementing my salary with a part time business thus can make up for the shortfall easily enough.
    5. Courses are cheaper in HK too thus will take them and that will of course improve my salary in the long term.

Ahem. Let's hope Immigration don't hear about these two if you are on an Employment Visa.

Thank you to all of you. Is anyone game to throw some salary figures around? 50K/ 100K/ 150k a month? What seems to be an average or considered a good expat salary to live on but not over the top.

I would like to find a modern new apartment with about 1300 sq/ft for about 35000/ month? Is it possible?

Is 90000 HK/ month considered good, average or low?

    Thank you

There is a poll on here titled something like how much do you earn? That should give you a rough idea.

90K HKD salary a month and he's worried about his food budget

Up UP and away don't worry its sufficient cheaper than UK after you take rental out of the the equation.

if you consider the tax rate on its own you pay maximum 16% and if your lucky next year the governemt will give you 25K HKD back to feed the kids ...

Ok, just as a bit of a reality check, the median monthly household income is $17,500. 73% of the households in Hong Kong have income of less than $30,000 each month.
