Immunizations recommended to move to HK ?

I was wondering if I need any immunizations before I move to HK ? Or if none are actually needed are any highly recommended ?

I visited in Nov/Dec and got sick (cold/light flu like symptoms) but I'm sure it was just the climate change coming from NYC (and the excessive partying) but does anyone know of anything specific that I should be concerned about ? I am going to be traveling to Southern China once in a while, while being there.

Also, I'm leaving in 20 days... I know this is short notice but does anyone have anything for me ?

    Thanks

i would check with your GP in the states. if you start your jabs, then you can continue with them once you are here.

i seem to remember getting japanese encephalitis and a few more before i moved here in 1995, just can't remember what they were, sorry!

I think the basics like HepA and HepB are all you need, Rabies if you are going to be handling stray animals in remote areas (can delay time b/w bite and rabies injections course if you are bitten by a rabid critter).

I think the Jap enceph etc are only rec if you are travelling a lot in india and china etc, but they weren't really recommended to me.. not that that means much...

    check the WHO website??

agree with Carang, ask your GP. you should be able to find a "travel clinic/doctor" as well...

I remember having to have the Heps. But I consulted an office that handled these immunizations in the US. Plus I have had a long series of vaccinations from prior lives so they only recommended what I didn't already have.

As someone mentioned already, the main vaccination for Southeast Asia is Hep A and B. This is the shot I took Home - Twinrix. Other than that you should be already vaccinated for the usual stuff, maybe get a booster for Tetanus and Diphtheria.
