My friend used Santa Fe and was very happy with them, it is on the expensive side, but he says it worths very penny.
You mean to pay tax for what ? Sending your house-hold to Shanghai ? Surely not - but maybe you need to make very clear lists what is in each box by number + pieces. The more precious things (if handy) anyhow I would highly recommend you put in your luggage - even you need to pay a few thousand HKD overweight - be aware what is important and expensive you better hand-carry
Apparently so...esp. for electronic stuff.
Santa Fe Homepage have a look here - there is customs info on China and other countries
Forgot to say click on "country information"
Try Links Relocations - i moved from BJ to HK with them and they were about half the price of Santa Fe/ Tigers etc and still do a decent job so great if you are paying for yourself.
You do need to pay tax on any electricals on arrival in china but i paid minimal amounts on Music system, printer etc... maybe $20 US when i moved to China 4 years ago.
Paying duties are divided into two categories:Never bringing unaccompanied baggages:under this, most of item can be entered duty-free excluded 20 kinds items, such as furniture, panio, electric items..with various duty tariff schedule and dutiable price. For example,a laptop should be levied RMB3000(DUTIABLE PRICE)*20%(TARIFF SCHEDULE).
There is another situation that people who used to bring uncompanied baggages.Under this, all items are dutiable..
Not to dredge up old threads but there needs to be clarification..
If you are using a relocation company to ship your effects into china the legal way, you will be required to pay taxes on electronics, alcohol, and furniture. It does not matter if your electronics or furniture is new or used, they will be taxed @ 20% and 10% respectively at customs assessed value.
In addition for relocations in china, to clear customs you will need a work visa and residence permit (in the case of HK residents holding the "home travel pass" they only need the work visa)
There are always misconceptions regarding visas and taxes.
