    Excellent

Many thanks for the advice. Sounds like DB is the way to go. The whole stepford thing doesn't worry me because I am not the slightest bit cool or hip to begin with and so I would have to catch up let alone keep up!

Oh re schools: I keep seeing that it is very difficult to gain a spot at DB and it seems expensive about 10K per child per year (Aus$) plus debentures is there a quality alternative ? (that is why I was looking into causeway bay schools) I just worry because my youngest is due to start school next year and i don't want to put her at a disadvantage when we retuen home in a couple of years time.

Aside from schools and where to live is there any other major things I would need to take into consideration financially or otherwise?

I suppose what I should ask is are people by and large happy living in HK and would they reccommend the experience to other families?

Also we are negotiating his contract currently and are curious what others would say say a family would need to live comfortably per month in a 3 bedroom place all things considered.

    Hi Rebelrouser
Saw your post and noticed you used to live in Merton-I am moving from Motspur Park in a week's time with my husband and two kids (3 and 6mths) and thanks to this forum we will be settling in DB. Am very nervous but excited too. Why does it say 'banned' under your name? Are you very controversial?

Regarding the clubs in Disco Bay, can anyone provide a brief overview of the pricing? Does membership come included if you rent an apartment in Disco Bay? Any info would be great. Just moved to HK yesterday and are looking for permanent housing! Loving it so far!

no, club fees are most definitely NOT included in renting a flat.

the golf club membership is around $7-10K per month (plus debenture)

the marina club (no idea how much) plus debenture

the residents' club is about $400/month/person. These were the fees as of last year.

Thanks for the info! Any idea how much the debenture is for the golf club?

This site suggests HK$1.7M plus a transfer fee of HK$160,000 for an individual debenture.

The transfer fee is confirmed here on the club's own website.
