Seriously look at Kennedy town, you can still find 1bedroom apartments for 15K max, my friend found a 2 bedroom for 12K, nothing fancy but still not too shabby as well.

    Its more than enough.

It's pretty much what i moved here on 3 years ago as a 29 yo single male and i coped just fine and i did a lot of drinking and eating out. I was in a flatshare for 15k in CWB but now I have a 2 bedroom furnished and renovated apartment in Wanchai for 17k so good deals can be found. Check the classifieds on this website or the other asia expat site(s)

    W00t!

    That's reassuring about rent rate.
I've checked the classifieds and it seems that indeed you can found some better deals than I thought in the first place.

    Thanks for that mates.

Date of arrival is confirmed 2ns January.

    Hello mate,

Actully I'm quite used to moving abroad.
Lived in Canada, USA, several countries in UE and Australia.....I know the google syndrome very well.
Having nice pictures and reviews makes you vulnerable when the reality-train comes at you

Anyway thanks for the advice cause it's always hard to keep in mind that what you see is not really what you get while being all heated-up about your change of life.

Nonetheless, your post calls for a bit of enlightment. If you could be more precise about what you mean....

    cheers!

All the countries you mentioned above have consumer protection laws and minimum standards. It would, for example, be illegal in the UK to put a photo of some accommodation in that has had various (nasty) features photo-shopped out. It's not in Hong Kong, indeed it's common practise! Where I live, the place next door is often featured in adverts that paint out whole towers (to make it look more spacious); that turn ugly tarmac roads into "green paths" and so on and so forth. It's far more than the fish-eye lens effect... which will make somewhere you can stand in the middle and touch all walls look huge. So mentally ramp up that preparedness!
