    Italian moving to HK in Sept: is it worth to do a Bank Account

    Hi all

    my company is sending me via London to HK initially for 2 months, do you suggest to do a bank account there?I don't want to pay every time commissions on my withdrawal
    Anything, let me know!

    You need a proper employment visa and so many papers to open a bank account that you probably can't even get done in the first two months anyway.

    Utter rubbish.

    He needs only a recent utility bill in his name and his passport.

    My 2 cents, citi bank on pedder street. Gave least trouble for opening an account without utility bill.

    Yup. New rules apply since Dec 2014, it's a total nightmare and we have been here for several years! Just because we can't show a utility bill from country of origin (The Netherlands) in English and no older than three months we can't open a new bank account. We've been gone for 4,5 years and English is not an official language in Holland anyways so it's freakin' crazy!

    good question! They said because there are new strict money laundering rules and regulations in place imposed by the HKMA? We still have HSBC but wanted to ditch them because of the crappy service.
