It is just a fact for most non serious sickness, most patients in HK goto private clinics or private hospitals' out-patient departments, from around the 1970s. Probably not before the end of 1960s as told by some current elderly people, most people were quite poor before the end of 1960s.

Most working HK people now can afford a few hundred or maybe upto 500 or 1000 bucks for a visit to a private doctor for non serious sickness. The public GP clinics have quotas and the public specialist clinics have long waiting period taking years to see a public specialist. These are the main reasons most patients in HK go private for non emergency or minor sickness.

Most working HK people consider private hospitals in HK expensive therefore most choose the much cheaper public hospitals. Private hospital in-patient charges are a lot more expensive than private out-patient or clinic charges, highly unaffordable for most people.

In some rich western countries, unlike HK and Macau, private clinics not run by the government are also publicly funded and the patients do not pay or pay cheap fees.

I’ve no idea again these are all questions I had hopefully going to get chance to sit down with HK HR. Unless the rental agreement / tenancy was in the companies name then that will allow me to reduce the tax.
