    Sales Position: Help me decide

    Hi,

I just received an offer for sales position with a base salary of 20k.

Do you it is decent enough and reasonable?

    In my calculation

    Rent 6k
    Food 3k
    utilities 1k
    transport 1k

would left me with 9k for saving / other stuff.

I do not mind living in a share flat and eat cheaply/cook by myself

I a single guy from a developing country and I still hasn't receive the offer yet.

Depends on the location you will live in.
Will you get commission for sales?

Is there a reason a local person couldn't do the job? With a low salary it might be hard to convince immigration to give you a visa otherwise.

I will get commision for sales, should be around 3k per month on the safe estimation

Because of the language barrier, they want to expand their business in my home country

If the position leads to a better future, either in HK or your home country, go for it.

So you will be based in HK, selling stuff to people back in your country , I hope your future company can sell it better to HK Immigration on why you should be allowed to work in HK, why cant you do that job back in your own home country.

Dont forget that your salary will be deducted MPF which is a mandatory pension fund, for your salary range its 5% = HK$1000. You can get it back when you permanently leave HK or when you retire in HK.

Since it is a HK company, and they do not have an office in my home country.
It could be seen as a saving that i could not get right? and i am left with 1k less to work with.

Hopefully it leads to better opportunity. Thanks Chau

Just FYI because you are looking to save money- I live on Peng Chau, 40 minute ferry ride, 597 per month ferry pass, I work in Sheung Wan on border with Sai Ying Pun, take a 5.9 dollar bus in the morning when it's hot, walk to ferry at night.

You can get a share flat for around 3500 HKD and sometimes a whole flat for 6K (small).

Just to let you know that there ARE cheap options that are doable. There are also cheap places in New Territories but I think the commute is more expensive, our ferry is pretty cheap.
