Do you mean the minimum cost or what people on here typically spend on their helper?

Mate, if you "searched online" and couldn't come up with hard figures, then you probably don't have the competence to be responsible for hiring, housing and feeding another human being.

There's literally only a very small handful of figures to consider.
    Wages
    Food allowance
    Medical insurance
    Flights.

    It is not rocket surgery.

i think the issue is on wages which is HKD 4730 per month, food allowance is HKD 1196 per month. cheap employers let the helper eat their left-over food and save on the food allowance. generous employers who want a top-end helper don't save on that, pay the food allowance and consider paying a higher than minimum salary. and of course you pay more by default if you want them to be a driver.

Should of clarified my question better.

Want what is typically paid versus Government minimums.

Spoke to one friend they pay $8.5k for a live in, in Disco Bay.

Question was wrongly worded, wanted to know what people typical pay as Government minimums are simply that and are not widely followed for good/experienced helpers.

It varies a lot depending on their experience. Anything from minimum wage to 10k+ (although top end I’d say is unusual). From my network I’d say 1-2k over the minimum seems to be average for a live in helper with experience, so yes the 8.5k ish mentioned to you sounds right. Again in my experience most helpers seem to prefer getting the food allowance (as they think they can cater for themselves for less and / or want flexibility to decide exactly what to eat), and when considering the total amount they’ll be paid (eg 8k) they factor that in.
