    Urgent! Shipping door-to-door, or door-to-port?

Hi everyone!! Need some speedy advice concerning receiving a shipment in hong kong that is door to port..

I am arranging shipping for a few boxes I need moved UK to HK, and have been set on Door-to-Door (having had a very bad door-to-port experience in the past), but I recently read that HK is a free port and as such has no customs charges, but further still, would therefore have no brokerage fees if a shipment is sent Door-to-Port. As it is the broker's flat fees that killed in my experience in the past, this sounds amazing and like a brilliant way to save money on shipping. It also sounds too good to be true!!

Can anyone chip in anything they might know about all this kinda thing?

    Thank yoooou

Do it door to door - it's a free port but that just means no taxes, not no customs inspections to go through.

SevenSeasWorldwide specialise in shipping small loads and worked very smoothly and efficiently for me and some others here.

Thanks for the advice. It does make sense that you would still have fees to pay, and I don't really want to take the risk of finding out how much the brokerage fees will be.

Funnily enough SevenSeas was who I was going to use! Have place my order with them now, so all done and dusted.

I would suggest door to door also. Just sounds less complicated. Based on your knowledge maybe you can bring the costs down if you use it as a negotiating tool.
