    Discovery Bay?

Hi everyone, my family is moving from the USA to Hong Kong by 1 January 2010 and we are interested in Discovery Bay. We are a "young" family with a 5 year old and hoping for more children. I am leaning towards Discovery Bay for quality of life without a car, daily conveniences, etc. However, we have heard my husband's commute could be a nightmare.

My husband will be traveling to the airport, mainland, Kowloon, Wan Chai, and Science Park about 50% of his time. Is commuting really a nightmare from DB?

Can anyone list the pros and cons to living in Discovery Bay. Also, belonging to a club is very important Club Sienna for owners only or can renters join?

    Thanks for your help!

Commuting to/from Discovery Bay has improved a lot during the last few years.
DB to Kowloon: Bus to Sunny Bay MTR, then Tung Chung line to Kowloon station or change in Lai King to the Tsuen Wan/Central line
DB to airport - there are buses leaving every half hour, commute from the Plaza to the airport is 25min
DB to Shenzhen - it really depends on which border crossing your husband is using
DB to Wanchai - ferry and MTR
I have quite a commute - the office in in Kowloon Bay and I travel to Shenzhen a lot (1:45hrs including immigration from DB to Lowu). While it is not exactly convenient it is not horrible either

Tenants need to be nominated by the landlord to join the club. The membership qualifies you to use both clubs - Club Siena as well as the Residents Club.
If your husband commutes a lot I highly recommend that you look into properties within walking distance to the Plaza/ferry pier. Feel free to pm me if you have questions.
