Yep, they're giving me 20 sq feet of sea container and 800 lbs air as a standard local relo.

Just checked the same model TV in HK and the cheapest I've found is around 39k honkie. So this is cheap? Cost me around 28k brand new. Would have hated to see when TV's were expensive.

Going to bang it in Metropolis for about 75% cost see where that gets me.

Cheers for the advice really appreciate it.

They often use a formula for volume weight ratio. If you try to ship something very large and very light by air, they won't assess it on it's actual weight.

I would bring it to be honest - I brought my 52 inch set from Japan and am using it fine here. It pained to me find it was 110v only - so I had to get a transformer, looks just like the one PDLM linked. Every laptop, PC, monitor, printer, phone charger etc I have seen in the past decade has been auto-sensing multi-voltage but not the TV!

Re: set top boxes - unless you plan to watch the free to air rubbish then you need a set top box for cable TV anyway so no difference.

Is that right? Very surprising to be honest. Mine is a local Japan model and is multi-system.

Yeah I am fairly sure that most TV's in Japan have only NTSC analogue tuner and ISDB digital tuner. I've had troubles in the past using my PAL camcoder in Japan and also wanted to show a PAL video at a presentation that wouldnt work without having to get special hardware.

Of course you can still use your TV in Hong Kong with a set top box and dont use the tuners at all.

39K for a 42 inch LED HDTV? That seems high to me. I thought 42 inch goes for around 5k - 20k nowdays depending on brand and features.

Where's the best place to buy these near Central?

I need to buy a couple of the bigger 250w ones and a few 150w ones.

    Any pointers?

Also, anyone seen these for 1000w appliances - I imagine they're big but do they also exist.

Any tips on nearest store to Central - don't mind a trip to Kowloon, just need to know where and wht MTR.

    Cheers

You can get them in Wan Chai Computer Centre - Foresoon Engineering has them which is one of the first stores on your right as you go in
