Given that a 500 tub of ibuprofen (not sure about acetominophen) can be bought from a local pharmacy here, after a bit of a haggle, for about US$50 then you must be consuming enormous quantities to be able to save "hundreds of US dollars".

I don't know that I've consumed 500 in 40+ years of living...
Me neither, so it seems to me that the previous poster has far more serious problems than saving a few dollars...
it depends... i go through A LOT of ibuprofen, and i, too, stock up when at home and have everyone coming to visit bring me more.
i suffer debilitating migraines in addition to endomytriosis(which is agonising at best)... i often use 10-12 tablets/day (which is over the recommended dosages) for a week at a time...
I second that. I have endometriosis too, and there are certain days of the month when I have to take well over ten tablets of Ibuprofen a day to function.
The last time I was in Hk I bought Reach floss?!
I currently live in South Korea - and your list sounds almost identical to the ones newbies to Korea make.. and I am actually quite surprised because having lived here for quite some time, I can attest to the fact that Hong Kong has so many more western things we are used to back home than Korea... e.g. I actually buy my deodorant in HK from M&S.
NOT ordinary floss, the refills for the devise that looks like a toothbrush except that it has a replaceable floss head (like those toothpicks). Amazing device. Only form of floss (ordinary floss and toothpick things included) that I have ever managed to get the hang of.
THis thing.

Hi there,
I face the same questions as you over what to ship; while many things can be found in HK, methinks consider what'd help you settle in here better, at least for the first two months, and ship those.
Also if there're any specialised items which you have to use because of any medical conditions.
e.g. deodorants, comfort cereals, make-up etc are little items, but at the start, you may be busy settling into work, finding an apartment, getting all your IDs/bank accounts/credit cards etc set up, so frankly, shopping for these won't be at the top of your list. After you've settled all these necessary things, you'd have more mental space to start looking for the items/substitutes then.
Also, if your company is paying for your shipping, why not?
Just keep in mind that unless you're sure of your apartment size, you may not want to ship too many items over as you may not be able to store them.
If anyone sees them here I'd love to know... although luckily this is one of the lighter things I import from holiday!
