    budget for move to HK

I have been offered $500K a year job in HK. I have a wife and child who we would want to enter into ESF.
Is it poossible to do this and what should I budget for property?

For rent it depends where you want to live and how big an apartment you need. But I would budget between HK$15,000- $ 20,000/ per month.
ESF primary school fees about $60,000/

You wont lead an extravagant life, but you will be OK. $20k per month rent, $6K per month school. That leaves you with maybe $10k per month for everything else after tax.

By the way, how old is your child and how soon are you coming to HK? It is not easy getting into ESF and you could be faced with very long waiting lists.

she's going to be four in august - what sort of flat would I get in HK and would it be good for a child -ie near a park/ school and nearish to hospital.

Also, we are having a baby in sept so is this money too low for us to cope?

To be very honest, you'd be really tight on that budget(around $40k a month for 4 people). Is it possible to negotiate for a bit more?

Depending on the location you will get between 500-700 Sq ft .
    Rooms are tiny.
Money wise it is going to be very tight.
If you can get housing allowance it will be better.

Getting a spot in ESF for a 4 year old is going to be hard. Have you made any inquiries or looked at deadlines, etc?

I would certainly focus on getting the school nailed down first, then apartment hunt somewhere convenient to the school. Also note that most ESF schools have catchment areas.

I agree money wise will be tight. But its doable.
