Do a google search, Guardian UK universities ranking.
Health warning on these though. Just because a university has top researchers does not mean that you get the best experience. Outside the top ten nobody gives a damn in the UK. Which universities are you considering?
The University of Salford>>>BA (Hons) Business Administration
University of Nottingham>>>>BSc (Hons) in Computing &
Information Systems
Management - University of Leiceste
I would go on the course first but Nottingham probably has the best reputation which does not mean the others are bad of course. Manchester (where Salford is) is the largest city of the three. Out of interest how did you pick those three?
The Nottingham University does carry a better reputation (for research funding and for employment prospects).
But have a look at the courses you're studying:
Management or Business studies leads you to a very different direction than computer studies.
Although the Northern universities can be bleak, Nottingham itself isn't going to offer any great advantage if you come out with a computer science degree. Edinburgh and countless federal universities in London will offer you that edge.
I agree in that there is little to go on in terms of university rankings outside the top 10 (or 5 rather). You'd be buying into a urban myth perpetuated by crass modern newspapers which generate enough spin about prestige than really exists.
Good luck
Agree with all you say Lunar except for the bleak northern universities, some are pretty

Another consideration is the cost of living - it is very much higher in London than in the north. The rankings are a total pain but taken seriously in Asia whereas in the UK we tend to know they are a pile of crap. Once was an external at one of the Unis that is often near the bottom - excellent teaching, good courses, supportive staff. Taught at one of the top ones and often the staff there viewed students as a nuisance that got in the way of their real job - research.
Thought you may be interested in seeing this, published in todays UK Times Online.
