    Unhappy About piano

    Hi.
Currently, I am planning to buy 2nd piano.
I am now looking at chinese brand or korean brand such as Ottostein or kalr muller.
I think I am pretty advanced piano player but I don't have a big badget... so unfortunately, I must buy cheap piano.

Could anyone tell me about the quality of chinese or korean pianos?
I have never played those countries piano but i can tell by price...
If price is cheap, sounds are cheap, too...
I am thinking if the quality is not good I will wait until I get enough money to buy cheap Yamaha or other pianos.

    Can I hear some opinions?

    Thanks

In Hong Kong, we actually gave away our Yamaha baby grand and bought an electric piano instead. The weather was wreaking havoc with it, even though it was certified as as "seasoned" piano. It needed to be tuned at least twice a year. With our electric piano, it never needs to be tuned and always plays beautifully. We have friends who swear by the Yamaha Clarinova, but we're using the Casio Celviano, which doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but sounds great!

you need to install a small heater thing at the back / close to the piano. that's what we did with our yamaha and its ok so far. you can't never compare, and replace a real piano with a clarinova or an electric piano as the touch is completely different!

    That just isn't true !!!!

For a start, the better quality YAMAHA CLP versions do in fact have
graded hammer effect technology to emulate the action of a grand piano.

You will also find that the keys are heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble areas. This is exactly what happens on a grand piano, the hammers get thicker as you move to the bass side from the treble.

Why don't you actually go and try one out before typing BS. The Clarinova is a faithfully DIGITALLy accurate ( sounding ) piano.

With a decent set of bookshelf sized Studio Monitors ( speakers ), amplified with a valve tube amplifier ( or any high current amp of quality ) ( Mosfet mmm ) connected to the audio output of Clavinova, you will generate a tonal quality every bit as good as the real thing. In actual fact you would generate what I like to describe as; " chocolate for the ears " .

Don't forget that you can also hook fully enclosed headphones to these units, should you want to practice without upsetting the neighbours.

Moving house is also no problem with a light weight Clavinova, you won't need a specialist piano mover to move it.

Another great ability, as we delve into the multimedia world of digital functionality, is that you can hook your digital piano to your pc and merge samples into Fruity Loops etc and compile CD quality recordings at home with your Yammy. Quite easy to do....

For those interested enough who want a practical solution that will fit in a tiny HK flat, then, Tom Lee's Music are the people to visit. >> Tom Lee Music (HK) - The largest musical instrument retailer in Hong Kong

Just a plea from the non-piano playing people out there. If you live in a flat please consider your suffering neighbours, especially the poor bastards underneath you. You may be the best piano player in the world but it gets on everyone else's tits after a while.

Baldwin you 're so lucky ! nice choice

Regarding price for rent studio it depends you can rent for a number of hours the more hours you take the cheaper it is. For example I rent 10 hours for 250HKD and u can play until 22 pm everyday !

jesus no need to get agressive here no? just offering my opinion here. i am very advanced on the piano so i can tell you that what i've said in my last post is no BS. while i was living in London i tried the yamaha clarinova and digital piano etc as there was no space for an upright even so i do know the difference, thank you very much.

plus you said it yousrelf- "emulate the action of a grand piano", "faithfully digitally accurate sounding piano" means they can no way match the real thing. period.

i honestly don't know any great pianists or piano teachers (unless they r not v good) out there would promote the "pianos" you mentioned

as for the OP: i've never played on a chinese or a korean piano before so no comment. but i'd suggest to rent one in a piano shop so you won't disturb your poor neighbours, and can play for as long as poss
