Question SEEKING ART PORTFOLIO BUILDING COURSE

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a structured course or series of classes that help with portfolio building in Art. Ideally, the course must provide materials, though I can provide basics i.e. pencils and sketchbook.

I have studied art previously and am very creative, but was unable to study the subject further in my final years of high school, and am thus lacking the basics in some areas i.e. figure drawing, painting, print making etc.

I'm taking a gap year after I graduate, and during that time I want to build a portfolio that I can apply with to good art universities, i.e. SCAD Hong Kong.

Any links or contacts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance

Additional info: I'm a student graduating from an ESF High School this year. I only speak English. I'm on a budget.

Check out HKU SPACE, the Art Centre or other continuing education courses..

    Hong Kong Art School

To build a strong portfolio, something has to stand out from the crowd- you have to create your own style, your own signature, have a consistancy breathing through your art work; when there is heart and soul into a piece of work, people can feel your energy and that's what represents you as an artist. My two cents.

Thank you so much for the useful links - I'd looked at HK Art School previously, but HKU SPACE looks very promising. Thanks again!
And I agree with your statement - art is seemingly a visual representation of your own interpretation of the world... and everyone's is different.. so that's what makes the work vivid and interesting!

    Re:

If you need any help with the portfolio, feel free to ask me any questions. I majored in fine arts too in the States, though it was a long time ago. Anyway the way they taught me how to see- it stays with you forever. Good luck.
