What type of schools? Primary? Secondary? Public? Private? English-medium? Cantonese-medium? Mandarin-medium? Some other medium? IB system? GCSE/A'level?

And how do you define best? Academic results? Sports results? Fewest druggies? Least alcohol problems? Best at producing spoilt arrogant expat brats? Free of spoilt expat arrogant brats? etc

Delbacca - unfortunately there is no rating system (like Barrons Best Buys etc) in HK. You're going to have to go on word of mouth.

If your kids are in Kindy / P1, take a look at some of the threads on Hong Kong Education and Parenting Forums and also Hong Kong Baby, Parenting and Pregnancy Community - Hong Kong Baby and Pregnancy for more info.

The closest thing to what you are looking for are IB test results which are done in schools that teach this program. It is only done in the last year of secondary schools. Schools that do well usually publish their results on their website. It appears that CIS posted some of the best results in HK last year...

You'll find details of those results and how they compare to the rest of the world: Chinese International School

If you are thinking secondary school -> university entrance, then you also need to narrow down which country's universities you are targeting; most of the non-IB schools are geared towards a particular system - British, US, Australian, Singaporean, Canadian (and that's just some of the English language ones).

Hi, thanks for all the useful information. I was just asking generally, as in the UK you get statistics for the schools that do better (pass rates/attendance/truancy etc) based on national average. Anyway, my daughter is 27months, so was wondering if there are any particularly good nurseries/kindergartens around the area.

Hi, have you tried Geobabies? You'll have much more luck getting answers to these kinds of questions there.
