    Programme that reads out Cantonese

    Hi forum members,

Does anyone know of a programme / website that reads out Chinese texts in Cantonese? Google can only read out texts in Putonghua, which is pretty useful, but can't handle Cantonese.

    Thanks!

Sin-ji voice from RealSpeak. Some people may find it useful when learning a new language.

Here are two free ones, but they are online only.
Chinese University Vocal: CU Vocal - 首页
Best Text-to-Speech: Best Text-to-Speech Demo: Create Talking Avatars and Online Characters | SitePal TTS Demo

Thanks Creative. RealSpeak with Sin-ji Voice is purchased in two parts. RealSpeak application goes for HKD250, and Sin-ji, the voice file, costs HKD350.

These are great tools. I tested the Cantonese with a paragraph of a news. I like the Best Text-to-Speech more because the voice and speed is close to a conversational voice. The CU one is a little robotics!

It's interesting when it comes to translate numbers, for examples:
107 units - One hundred and seven units
10 units - One zero units

I've got a pen that does it, you scan the Cantonese, it translates it and either reads it or speaks it back to you...wasn't cheap mind..

I'm looking for something just like that. Do you have the brand and model? Where did you buy it from?

Anything that does the scanning and then translates gets a bit costly, do you recommend the one you have?
