    i dont understand...i gave my student a dictionary and a pencil, and the bastard still cant read or write. We must find new tools, cause these obviously aren't working.


    You can give a kid a cheap laptop every day of his life. It's not going to help unless you teach him how to use it, and how to use it for deeper learning. And, you need teachers who can do that. This is the problem with one laptop per child. They focus on the tech, which is great. But they need to add in additional focus on the teacher, and the tools (applications) that the kid will use to learn.

    As a technology concept they focus on a hardware platform rather than 'tech'.

    It is disappointing educationalists have not been able to develop curriculum changes and software to maximize the benefit of the hardware. Disappointing but not surprising.
