Hi,

The nearest international school is clearly Harrow, which is within a few hundred metres, but rather hard to get in to I believe.
Thanks.
Many families with kids in GC?
It's very much a family area.
Remember that all residents of HK (not just Chinese) are entitled to use the aided/ direct subsidy school system, and there are a couple of good options in the area which use English as the medium of instruction: Yuen Yuen Primary in Tuen Mun, and Lutheran Academy in Yuen Long. The latter uses the IB curriculum.
Edit to add - I forgot that the Marco Pan Secondary school in Tuen Mun is also well-regarded.

School first, location second.
Seriously, absent a debenture or some other priority for an international school, you are looking at a 50-50 at best chance to get into the school of your choice, probably even less if the school is very popular. Some popular international schools will have 60 places per class and over 300 applicants. Some families even split up temporarily with one partner in HK awaiting a school place and the other back in their homecountry with the kids in school until it is time to move.
By and large you'll want to work at securing a school and then finding a location to live that is not too far away, unless you are willing to pursue a local school option.
Gold Coast is a very family friendly place to live. Schools covered in other excellent posts. The GC Residences include beach houses with small ground floor gardens (an actual outside for kids!) as well as a football/field with grass (grass! in HK!) and various other amenities such as swimming pools, gym, tennis, squash etc etc. There are beaches and hiking nearby. The shopping centre is small but has everything one needs for day-to-day - restaurants, supermarket, chemist, coffee-shop, 7-11 etc - with Tuen mun a 10 min bus ride away having everything else.
And it costs a fraction of living closer to HK Island.
