Hi Cherry, there are a number of first aid courses offered at Red Cross and St. John's Ambulance with differing topics and hours so I would take a look on their respective websites for more information. If I remember correctly, a standard first aid certificate with 30 hours of instruction in English runs about $420 at Red Cross and $240 at St. John's Ambulance but there are other courses you can choose from. Red Cross for example offers a Domestic Helper First Aid course which only requires 8 hours of instruction but I am not sure of the cost. If you are looking for a low cost option, I would take a look at St. John's ambulance first.

Here's the Red Cross' list of courses:
    Hong Kong Red Cross

St. John's Ambulance is down for me at the moment but here is their website address:
    http://www.stjohn.org.hk/

I asked the same question earlier this year so feel free to take a look at the discussio here:

    Hope that helps, good luck.

I'd be careful about the English proficiency level of the instructors.

Cherry is it just for your own knowledge and use in Hong Kong or do you need the certification to apply to Canada as a caregiver?

We got St John's to train some of our staff, in English. They're quite alright, at least in terms of functional communication.
