Schmidt Hammer Lassen to design new Island School

Island School (ESF) is finally getting a face lift! Can't help but wonder how much it's going to cost - the designs look expensive...

Thats going to be a hell of a commute for Mid Levels kids ...

Indeed, a long way for kids that probably have after school stuff set up on the Island. Could have quite an impact on other Island international schools as I imagine some parents would look to relocate their children to another school if they can. Very hard to just magic up a large enough school that is empty on the Island, I'm sure if they could they would.

But ESF do have a good system for relocating schools. My daughter was at KJS the year they moved out to Hung Hom, the temporary school was refurbished to a high standard and much attention was paid to getting the children settled.

lucky KJS were able to secure a campus not to far away. Tai Wai is going to be tough.

The design does look AMAZING!

Hung Hom seems like a short hop, skip and two jumps compared to travelling to Tai Wai.

Anyways, parents have a few years to figure out. I think the current Y7 batch would have just finished their GCSEs when the construction starts - so could be a good time to relocate then.
