Is it overt and intrusive? Have not had any of our friends complain about it (and the group of people we know going there is very multi-cultural / religious etc).

One thing I liked about HKIS was the 360 review process. They do have a process for getting rid of low end performers on their payroll. In many schools (ESF is one we're familiar with) they waste their time away until they hit retirement age or get promoted to a suitable level where their incompetence is not an issue.
That may seem attractive to parents who then think they are getting the highest quality staff for their children…reality (from speaking to current staff) is that the 'Career Track' program may end up weeding out staff who are not ultra-aggressive in promoting themselves at the expense of colleagues, and valuing those who are adept at covert back-stabbing on their way up the HKIS ladder…nothing wrong with enjoying your position and being great at what you do while not desiring more…but then, this IS Hong Kong after all…when in Rome...

too late to edit, I should have written 'Career Structure' program, not 'Career Track'. Contentious either way...

To the OP, you may find getting into CDNIS easier (relatively) in the Reception year, when the 2 classes of Pre-Reception (approx. 22 in AM and PM) are expanded into 6 classes of 22 in AM and PM. After that, spaces basically only open when kids move out as the numbers are then set...

But isnt that what a 360 / peer review system avoids? Curious - do parents also participate in the HKIS review system or is it just peer and supervisor driven?

do we like to speculate today without knowing details?

No, we follow them on facebook, read the newspapers and watch the fits they throw online.

from the website, the review panel includes supervisor, administrator, peer and self assessment (weighte)...my comments are observances of the frustration felt by some long serving and excellent staff...

I believe parents also complete a questionnaire at the end of the year.

Surely a true 360 assessment would include the pupils' evaluation as well?
