There are plenty of females on this website, post a poll and see what happens.
But you need to rename the post. This one should only attract people who are studying and it will skew your results.

Janet, you should also check out the local univeristy websites. They often hold public seminars talks, and lectures which are free. I have a friend who works at HKU and she told me about one given by a Nobel laureate which I went to. Before the talk there was free afternoon tea and I got to chat with some of the professors.

At least 3 times I have been given a simple 'no' when I have asked at Dymmocks/Bookzine if they can order a book for me and when I was once able to order through Dymmocks they told me it would take 6weeks.
Amazon - don't have to leave the house to hunt to find a shop that has what i want / can get and know instantly that it is on its way. I can also buy used books as I tend to read them and give them away anyway, and they are delivered to my door.

By buying from Amazon UK am supporting my home economy

    Win some, loose some.

For sake of record - we're NOT dymocks. While we don't carry the UK publishers book's we carry or can special order *anything* that Amazon or Barnes and Noble has on their US websites.

I also buy from Paddyfield which can order US, UK and Australian titles. Usually takes two weeks although some orders will take longer.

And I check the prices at the aforementioned places first as they can vary considerably.

But don't get me started on secondhand books, my other half has to drag me past Flow.
