Very high average score from what I saw earlier, I guess primarily driven by some of the 'power house' schools.

    Excellent results overall!

GSIS - 40 average 3 perfects. I'd hate to be in that school... doubt I could get an average score!

    Victoria Shanghai - 36 average 1 perfect.

    ISF - 37 average top 44/45
( The ISF Academy Class of 2016 celebrates another outstanding performance in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) - The ISF Academy )

    ESF - 36 average 7 perfect scores

Just a quibble but American universities don't accept undergraduate for fixed courses. Sometimes they accept to a subject-geared college (e.g. college of engineering, college of arts & sciences). So this Margaret Ho hasn't been accepted to Johns Hopkins and MIT for neuroscience. Acceptance to these universities is an achievement, not sure why the need to exaggerate!

Well, they do have a very specific department for neurosciences at JH and they have a very specific program for BS/MS with very specific admissions requirements.

Perhaps she did get accepted into that program?

When I did my undergrad - I had to declare my major for admissions and my application had to be reviewed by that department in addition to meeting overall uni requirements.

And this is a very intimidating requirement at JH. You'd need to have your act together to even consider visiting their website, let along applying there.

To be considered for admission to the BA/MS program, a student, in cooperation with his/her research mentor, must prepare a proposal detailing the rationale, methods, and timetable for a project to be completed during the research year.

The proposal will be evaluated by the admissions committee with respect to the quality and feasibility of the proposed research.

It says clearly "Students who are interested in applying for the BS/MS program may do so either in the junior or senior year of undergraduate study."

She is admitted as a freshman to JHU, can't even apply to this program yet. Anyway I hope she gets in.

Its also a real shame that the article didn't care to mention that many schools (not all, but significant number) have perfected the art of pruning the population to bring up the averages.

To be blunt : some schools kick out low performing students in earlier years to achieve the higher averages.
