    ANYONE TAKEN THE OLQE ?

    Hi

I am based in the UK and am looking into the OLQE.

I am looking to understand your experience of the preparatory course providers and your reviews as the courses are not inexpensive and I don't know which is best. I have looked into IP learning who appear to be more expensive than other counterparts such as LexOmnibus for example.

Can you also share your views on any tips / how easy it is to get the exemption. I have 6 years PQE specialising in insolvency law but and studied a UK LLB law degree. We will apply principles of professional conduct and accounts on a daily basis having passed the exam at LPC level and thereafter carrying out regular training sessions at work so have any practising solicitors managed to get the exemptions?

    Thanks

Exemptions are pretty easy assuming that you provide the materials required. I took OLQE in 2013 after over 7 years of PQE and I recall back then only Conveyancing is required. Now Basic Law is also a must right?

As to course provider, me and my co-worker both chose Paul Kent and we both passed. His was a small class (round table, maybe 10 students in total) and I just liked that, allowing a lot of Q&As during and after class.

    Wish you good luck!

I recommend you put your application in as early as possible. The Law Society is an ancient behemoth. Paul Kent will be good if you are doing self-study distance learning.

Any idea by when the Law society determines your application and communicates the exemption?
