I have a very close friend who used to work for MK. He is one of dozens taking Wong Baixian (Edward) to court for unpaid salaries. Salaries were always late, which became the norm. He says about 60 (yes SIX ZERO) staff already quit in the last few months. Their staff to student ratio was about 1:2 because the principal just hired anyone she wanted and overpaid them. That's why they were always fine with late payment. Also sounds like she (principal) used to get some nice gifts and payments from Edward.

Another 10 former teaching staff of Mount Kelly School, including the deputy principal Rothwell Nicholas Stephen also filed with the Labour Tribunal yesterday (10th) for arrears of wages and payment in lieu of notice.

The former financial controller of a British private school in Hong Kong that struggled to pay its staff and rent this year has been arrested on suspicion of stealing nearly HK$600,000 (US$77,100) from the institution after being fired last month, a police source has said.


The source said on Wednesday that the suspect was picked up by crime squad officers outside the campus of Mount Kelly School in Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui on Saturday. The 34-year-old, who joined the school in 2016, was understood to have been sacked on July 7 for poor financial management.

All these famous brand international schools are pure cash cows. What other motivation could there be? A mission to provide quality education to Chinese/HK children?
