German Community Language Exchange For Kids | Hong Kong or Zoom

    Hi everyone,

I would like to know whether there is a German community in Hong Kong, so that children can learn German "naturally". I know several parents who want their children to learn German. Most parents agree that socializing with German children will increase of their learning much better than having tutoring lesson only.

It's also fine to communicate through zoom so the children who want to learn German have the ability to communicate at least.

    Thank You (Danke)

    Hello Chekki,
there is a German community. If you are on Facebook, search for the group "Germans in Hong Kong - Deutsche in Hong Kong" or "German Parents in Hong Kong (often Kowloon, Sai Kung and New Territories )". Seems that some people on this group have similar interests as you regarding to learning German.
    Viel Glück (Good luck)

    Hello QuiQi,

Thank you for the tip! Definitely, I'm going to visit on Facebook. I never really came up with this idea since I haven't really used Facebook in a while.

    Again, thank you!

    Hi Chekki,

I believe it really depends on where you live. The german community in HK isnt as organised as lets say the french, british, etc but they do cluster in some areas. We live in DB and our son meets up with other German kids his age once a week for language practice. He is 3 but I heard there are several other german groups like this in DB for older kids as well. Also, I would really look at the before mentioned fb group and just post there. Meeting other german kids shouldnt be an issue. Best of luck!

    Hi Nelson88,

I’m more relieved that there is actually not an issue to find German groups like yours to meet up in order to practice German and make friends in general.

Most of my students are at the age of 6-10. Anyway, I’m not gonna give up on my students since they are looking forward to meeting German kids and become more fluent in German 😌😊.

I already posted my request to the fb groups🤓.

    Thanks Nelson88!

    Hi QuiQi,

I would like to give you an update. It seems, that I haven't heard anything from FB group members that I posted my post since last week yet. It might take a while since most families are pretty busy with family and job.

    Again, thanks for your advise
