    HKIS v/s CDNIS

Hi all - If you had a choice between HKIS or CDNIS (for reception/ lower primary), which would you choose and why? We are not very familiar with the schools in HK. Any guidance about the pros and cons of each school would be helpful. How do children who attend these school shape up personality-wise?

    Thank you.

What I would first recommend is taking the time and visiting their info sessions in person, and take a tour of the place. Very quickly you can formulate an opinion of each school and what they bring to the table.

You can't go wrong with either or schools (assuming your child gets accepted into both, which is not easy due to the hundreds of applications with very limited spaces). If you check the school websites, you will see they both offer different curriculums and styles of learning. So you may want to think about what is the best learning environment that fits with your child's preference etc.

It's a smart move, as the demand for bilingual (English & Mandarin) has been very strong. CDNIS can consider expanding their campus at this rate.

Thank you. We have spent time understanding each school and their curriculum. They are both great, and we don't have a preference of IB over American curriculum. Thus, I was struggling to compare these schools.

Thank you. I heard that even HKIS has a Mandarin heavy stream which is essentially bilingual. Is that as good as the one at CDNIS?

Looong ago, our daughter was awarded a Manulife Scholarship to CDNIS just as she was about to "go up" to an Anglo-Chinese Secondary School in Tai Hang Road area!

I believe that the award was because our family had some Insurance policies with Manulife.

Anyway, she was accepted into HKUST and later graduated & later ended up in a responsible position in another Insurance organisation which has required her to travel to far away company meetings.

As a doting father, I am very happy for our daughter to have got a "flying start" to her business life - and can recommend CDNIS as an excellent educational establishment.

As for HKIS: I can not comment as I have never has any action with them.

Have you got slots at both schools? Else this is really a moot point. Both schools are good, take the one that accepts you

My point exactly. It's not exactly a walk in the park to get into either or school. There is so much competition out there for international schools.
