    Hong Kong Schools admission questions.....

    Hello,

I posted questions before about schools in HK.
This time we had sorted out the dependent visas, sold our house and made up our mind to go....

but I am so overwhelm with how to get both my kids in HK school....

We have no family or friends that living in HK and just trying to figure this out while searching for any information online that can give us a better understanding....

My family is moving from the UK.
One of my daughter goes to a all girls secondary school and my second daughter is at the final year of primary.
We do intend to live in HK permanently.

I am open to the idea of applying local school so my kids can possibly pick up on the language but both my kids don't read, write or speak Chinese. The feedback we got from people is that my kids won't be able to catch up and would struggle.
Because of this I would have to consider other options with affordability in mind.

Does anyone know of any schools - local, international, DSS or ??....

    > allow In year admissions
    > No debenture on admission
    > Admission fees under $14,000.00 HKD a month for one child
    > English Medium

    Thank you

ESF or international school. DSS and local English Medium schools are still primarily in Cantonese (day to day conversation is in Cantonese, since all the kids are local)

It has been years but DSC in Tai Koo would seem to meet your requirements but the fees are a little over, 15k or 16k. Just an example I am sure there are other schools

There are plenty of government Chinese schools for native Chinese’s speakers.
plenty of “international” schools in HK with or without debentures. Eg, Han academy was all over the news recently for the wrong reasons, plk has a few, bloom, oxbridge ….. check edb for all the details.m

Do you have any religious affiliation? There are some points to be scored if you are Anglican and want to go to an Anglican school or Catholic wanting to go to a Catholic school.

The UK isn't exactly the promised land some people around here think it is. Some things are okay in the UK but honestly I would say apart from housing it's easier to have a better quality of life in HK as long as you are employable.
