Not many threads about HKBU, was just curious if anyone here is currently attending HKBU? I know that the school is not well ranked in HK, is that true? Any opinions about the school? Thanks!

i'm not studying at hkbu, but some of my friends do
it depends which faculty you are in
its broadcasting-related subjects are quite good and well-organsied
btw, translation department is also not bad

Ranked number 4 or lower below CUHK, HKU and HKUST.This means it gets the students who probably have a lower language ability compared to undergraduates in the 'better' universities. This might have a bearing if you are not a native Cantonese speaker and intend to do a course there - even though it is officially an English speaking university. I think the actual courses and teaching is fine.

hkbu's best known for its communications department... and here's something from a friend of mine who went to that uni: "i don't recommend it" ... haha that's not to say that it's BAD...it's just that there are better options available among other universities here. most of the courses offered at the BU are also offered at the other universities here, so i'd say try the others before looking into BU

a small percentage of HK students (i believe about 10 - 15%) actually make it to a hk university each year.
so agree with acreativeameeh that its not the best (its ranked 4th or 5th) but its not that bad...
