Hi there
I am very confused right now.
Here is my situation!! i have accquired my 4 years teaching degree (B ED) from South Africa several years ago and it has being assessed and recognised by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).
Now, i am interested in applying for the Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) positions in one of the local secondary school situated here in Hong Kong.
What bothers me is that, the requirement stated that:
(i) Bachelor in Education degree (major in English or a Modern Language#, but not primary education specialist) obtained after 3 years’ full-time study from a Hong Kong university or equivalent*; and
(ii) a Post-graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) majoring in English or equivalent*; and
(iii) at least 1 year’s post-graduate experience of teaching English (preferably as a second or foreign language) at secondary level or above.
So now, do i have to accquire a PGDE certificate or not???
Many thanks
