Exclamation School Waitinglists..Is it that hard to find a school for my children?

We are moving to HKG in 2 yrs and wondering if its to early or late to apply to schools for our children (grades 2 and 4).

I have been told not to bother with DB college as the waitlist is 5 yrs long !!!

Is this really the case for most international schools?

I talked to Delia School of Canada and they laughed at me..saying not to worry about applying until the year we need a spot.

Looks like it depends on the school.

    Any advice???

    Ta

absolutely there are 'tiers' in terms of International schools...HKIS, AusIS, CIS, CDNIS, GSIS, FIS, many EFS schools, are often considered the upper tier with longer wait lists/debentures ...'tier two' schools like Delia, Kingston, Korean, Japanese, Norwegian, VSA, SingIS and many others may very likely have openings throughout the year...some parents as a result enroll their kids in one of these schools until a spot opens up in their first choice school, then move them.

DB is a bit unique as so many expats live there and prefer their kids to attend school there, so the wait list can be jammed up for years as you have found...doubtful that many non-DBer's would send their kids to DBIS and Discovery College (Tung Chung/South Lantau excepted)
