I remember posting a thread once enquiring about one of the IVE campus and the requirements of taking up a course there. Nearly everyone gave me thumbs down on joining it because they said it might be too local for me since my Cantonese is not very good and I needed a pass in Chinese Language but that wasn't true. As a matter of fact, the module has a syllabus for Non-Chinese speakers where you could exempt from the Chinese class and do a project to cover it up for credits. I'd like to correct everyone out there and assure you that so far I have not had any difficulty at all in adjusting with the college life there.

The teachers are very warm and welcoming. They are willing to help me in anything. Be it related to school work or adjusting with the school life. Although my face is one of the VERY few non-Chinese face in the whole campus. About 3-4 people are Non-Chinese hahaha! I don't consider that as a set back on anything. The students are more than willing to engage in all sorts of activities with me. I never feel left out and I consider this a wonderful experience to teach them English and to learn Cantonese from them. To be honest, I really believe that my Cantonese has been showing a lot of improvements ^^. Also, for extra information, not even once have I been ridiculed nor shown any sort of racism. They treat me like I'm one of their own. Sometimes, teachers even give me priority over others because of my English.

I was really nervous at joining first because I was afraid that it would be difficult for me to socialize and understand the concepts of the course but the teachers are kind enough to teach most of the class in English just to make me fully understood and around 10%-20% of it in Cantonese even though everyone else is Chinese.

All in all, it takes some courage to get up and go for something you truly believe will be worthwhile for you because no matter what the result, you'll feel like you were brave enough to beat all the odds and make the best out of it and that's what I did. I hope this will be an inspiration for anyone facing the same difficulties because I don't want another soul to go through the same stress I went through.

Cheers!
