must watch MIAMI VICE before clubbing!

damn..this movie is awesome! (bought the Thursday ticket already, can't wait)

listen to soundtrack now...(great car driving music!! and disco beat)

about the sound track (my recommendation)

    (1)The Air Tonight / Nonpoint

ok, the singer is trying to redo the Phil Collins song...
sorry, but I think Phil Collins version is already the best, and there is no way a "remix" kind of new arrangement will change that...**I think the Phil Collins version still can catch the "feel" of the new Miami Vice...who the hack decided to redo this song? big mistake

(2)One of These Mornings / Moby featuring Patti Labelle

ok..this song is trying to get that "feeling" back ....it does a great job!

    (3)Sinnerman / Nina Simone

ok...this is THE SONG!! no question about it...
people who drive a convertible/spyder (like that F430 in the movie) or like us who drive a Lotus Esprit.
YOU MUST HAVE THIS SONG IN YOUR CAR, MAN!!
**listen to it when driving on a highway in the middle of the night...quiet..it is just BAD AXX!!

    (4)Auto Rock / Mogwai

ok..this is (I think) the part where you see in the movie trailer...the 2 cops cruising along the highway....
this is the background music. GREAT MUSIC!!

    (5)Arranca / Manzanita

    Very SANTANA FEEL!.....great Latin music!

    (6)Ready For Love / India.Arie

the only LOVE SONG in the movie..

    (7)Strict Machine / Goldfrapp

this one is very ELECTRONIC/DISCO feel (bringing back the style of Pet Shop Boy)
but the REMIX is giving it a "mystery feel.." (like you have taken drug...**losing your head)

yes, does seem like a promising flick. thought so when the previews came out: they used some video as opposed to 35mm/digital, which i think is neat.

Hey, thanks for the mini-review of the soundtrack. :-) I know a movie is visual first and foremost, but a good soundtrack just makes it more memorable.

A friend and I are going to watch it .. at 9:30 AM on a Saturday, no less!!! I know, I know -- we want to beat the lines.. (*groan*)

Plot-wise, it isn't new. I didn't like it that the story became like a chick-flick towards the end. Surely, not ALL possible movie twists have been thought of, for it to go the usual route. Or maybe it's because the movie version is going along the same lines as the TV version? Anyone who would like to educate me on this, please do. I never really watched the TV version, as the show was on weekday nights then. Also, was it part of the show then that what one partner experiences individually, the other has to go through it, too? You'll know what I mean when you watch the movie.. (I'm spoiling it for you, as it is! Yikes!)

But, I like the visuals, and how it tied up the scenes to create stories within a story. Notice how the image becomes grainy during their "operations".

A couple other plusses -- Jamie Foxx is HOTTTT in a suit! And that music in the Havana club would just make every other warm-blooded female take up salsa, or tango, or whatever latin-dance lessons there are in HK!

I loved the original TV series and absolutely adored Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. However, the tv show was never about plot. It was about style, glamour, fast cars, hot guys and for a teen growing in grey rainy London that was all it needed. Many years later and my tastes haven't changed much - if Jamie Foxx is as hot as you say, it may be worth it for that alone!

Didn't enjoy the movie ... big Miami Vice fan, but unfortunately they turned this into a B grade cops and robbers flick. If you're going to muck with the style .. then bring some substance into the picture.

And what was with the repeated shower scenes? Did they feel that both actors needed exactly 30 seconds worth of arse shots?

    Disappointed

Ha Ha - My male friend asked the same question. I guess I am the section of the audience they were trying to appeal to
I saw the movie too, but went with pretty low expectations and ended up enjoying it more than I thought. I agree the story was lame (and downright naff in some places) but I remember the TV series having the same qualities.
