Mr know it all, my humble apologies, the value statement was meant for Matt.

As for too many tickets, my friends and I lined up from 9pm Friday until 1pm the next day and had every intention to attend. Unfortunately, 1 is moving overseas and I have to go "home" for Easter so that gave us 4. 2 others had a spare that were willing to give to friends at cost.........until guys on this website were getting big $$$$ for tickets.

So while it is a case of making a quick buck, there was no malice in how the tickets were attained as one guy had cast aspertions on us. We did the right thing, and now we are able to make spare cash. Sorry for making a buck in HK. The irony.

Just for the record, as you walked out of Causeway Bay MTR at about 11am on Saturday the going rate on the street for a 2-day ticket was $1000.

Upon leaving the ground on Saturday I asked one of the chaps begging for tickets "how much.." he said he would give $500 for a Sunday ticket... ''No I said how much to buy..'' $1500 was the response.

In the end I advertised on this site and got a few texts, eventually got a Sunday ticket for my friend for $800, from a lovely lady who had to go to work at the last minute.

Have to say the ground was pretty chocka on Sunday... so much so that people ended up on the pitch

Really? So KIA might be coming after you for his legal costs if the HKRFU sue him as threatened...

PDLM - There was never a problem with people asking for tickets.

I just did not have time to get a legal opinion on this issue, so this year around we did not bother fighting the Rugby Union. Next year will be a different issue, when I'm more informed about what the correct way to go about this is.

I'm simply not happy with their lack of communication on some issues I had with the overseas sites who are more than happy to let folks buy and sell tickets at a huge profit.

Seems to me the HKRFU needs to get their house in order before hassling well intentioned internet sites.

There were touts with several executive tags around their necks, a fist full of tickets in one hand and a fist full of cash in the other, shouting ''buy sell ticket" outside the ground.

HKRFU should offer the service for people who are no longer able to go to the matches to sell their ticket on to people who find themselves in HK' unexpectedly, like my friend or who at the last minute want to go. That way they could make a percentage of any incremental resale value.

    Maybe KIA could host it?

    >> That way they could make a percentage of any incremental
    >> resale value.

Or it could go to charity. At the end of the day, all of this is trivial to do. Lots of ways to skin a cat.

They don't need the money... they have lots of fat cats supporting them. I say, give the money to a local charity to make up for the mess the "real fans" leave behind.

Having said that, it is in the rugby union's interest to create an artificial scarcity of tickets rather than figure out an efficient market system for distribution.

Keep in mind that the patrons of this fine institution are primarily involved in the business of intense profiteering in their day jobs ... bankers, property tycoons and solicitors come to mind.

This happens EVERY year. The Union bosses are presumable too drunk to notice.

However in the weeks preceding, they're presumable sober to do some internet searches and threated a few websites so that they can justify their existence.

Is my memory playing tricks with me, or did the RFU actually run some sort of "return and resale" arrangement at the box office at the stadium perhaps 7 or 8 years ago? I don't see why that couldn't work.
