Rock n' Roll Karaoke?

Had and idea to start a rock n' roll karaoke band her in Hong Kong. I've seen it work in Portland, Oregon and thought it may work here. Here's what I'm thinking - play all the hard rock hits from the 70's, 80's, 90's. Bands like The Ramones, AC/DC, Def Leppard, GnR, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Stones, Pink Floyd, etc... Have a set list of about 25-30 songs to start with, find a venue who would support something like that and see what happens. FYI here's some bands that I'm currently into: Queens of the Stone Age, High on Fire, Band of Horses, Black Mountain, Foo Fighters.

Obviously there are some serious challenges: 1. Finding a guitar player(s) who plays through a Marshall (or any other good tube amp) and rips it up. 2. Finding a competent bass player. 3. Time and space to practice. 4. Marketing the whole idea.

It would have to look and feel like a rock show: loud, sweaty, and lots of beer. If you don't like playing with a drummer who hammers the shit out of his drums then don't bother.

Probably a long-shot I know, but at the worst I'm out the five minutes it took me to write this posting.
