''The Lounge'' at Four Seasons Hotel

Has anyone tried the 'Lounge' at the Four Seasons Hotel? Are the set dinners good? i know it costs $450 for a 3 course dinner with wine.

Is that a better choice for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend for his birthday than a steak dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse.?

: ) any more nice places? i have a budget of around 500 per person thanks!

    Lounge not that good, overpriced.

I would definitely stick with Ruth's Chris or Morton's. They are by far superior to the Lounge. Food isn't overpriced, quality is there, and a better overall experience. I never cared for the lounge, and don't know anyone who regularly goes there.

Well yes, but dinner at Morton's for $500 per head? I don't think so.

I went to The Lounge for Valentine's Day and it was only okay. (left my reservation to the last minute and had nowhere else to go.)

It's one of the those places where you spend loads of money and they serve you the tiniest portions. I felt like I had only had 3 bites of food - and that was after hogging 1/2 my gf's portions as well!

That's the Four Seasons for you. You can have the eight course tasting menu at Caprice, and an extra cheese platter, pay the $1500 per head bill and still want to go for an Ebenezer's afterwards.

Agree. Also, Ruth's Chris can get very expensive, very quickly.

Would like to see other people recommendations for a $500 a head restaurant.

Mandarin Oriental's set dinner for 2 was fine, tiny neat, beautifully displayed, precious-looking morsels served on great white flying saucers for plates. But when we were there on a weekday, boyyy... was the place near empty! Think the roaring price for a bottle of red there had something to do with it (dunno as didn't set eyes on the tab).

Don't go up there that often, but for something a little less refined / rarefied (?), maybe 'Cafe Deco', up on The Peak, will do. It may be over-popular, so crowded and a touch noisy, with lots of tourists, so NOT exactly 'romantic'... BUT if you book a little table on the balcony/verandah, you'll have a nice, longish view out... Err, that is, if that blurry 'haze', shadowing HK, isn't hovering so close (like it tends to do most of the damp season).

Anyways, Cafe Deco's sorta high ceilinged airy, vibe: OK-stylish, food's reasonably proportioned, well-presented, AND, most importantly, the reds flow aplenty for not-TOO-outrageous a price... And with the recent reduction in alc. duty, may be even better now... (fingers crossed)
