island shangri-la offers one, a bit out of my price range but for those that may want to go
cafe TOO's late dinner buffet
cafe TOO's late dinner buffet starts from 9:30 to 11:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and is priced at HKD 278 per adult and HKD 198 per child.
cafe TOO's buffet is indeed excellent value so long as you are hungry when you go! A huge range of dishes and refreshed regularly.
About the one in TST, it's most probably the "Spice Market" in Prince Marco Polo Hotel.
They do all day buffets, priced differently for different sessions. For late nights, 9.15pm to 11.15pm (on Fri, Sat & eve of P.Hols), it's around HKD148 +10% s.c. (with 10% discount off if paying with particular HK credit cards).
Food - range-wise, it's OK to not-spectacular, mostly Asian / Fusion (incl. yummy-enuff sashimi), BUT, quality-wise, just acceptable, NOT very high. Can be hit or miss, depending on what's left over from the earlier buffets! And oh, the large, open dining area's fairly crowded and a bit noisy (IF you're into relaxed, lingering chats with your sweetheart).
I've tried other hotel buffets, they tend to be of similar standard. Just call 'em up as many on HK Island do late nights on Fri and Sat +eves of hols.
Agree with rave review of Cafe TOO - one of the best; but not a healthy idea to go to "all-you-can-eats" very HUNGRY.
One more option, and one of my favs, is the "Tiffin Lounge" in Grand Hyatt (Wanchai).
There, they've a late "Dessert Buffet" on their spacious, airy mezz floor, BUT not every morsel's a sweet tart or creme brulee, there are lots of tasty, savoury bites (Western, Asian & in-between) too, and a creamy cheese board... Plus, if booked in advance (recommended), good seating allows you an amazing panoramic view of zee harbour, on the rare "non-hazy" night, while well-laid back... in cosy, comfy sofas, accompanied by gentle tinkling of classic/jazz piano...
Price? HKD160 to 200 +10% s.c., per person. But book well ahead.
