    Old Cinemas?

On my last visit to Hong Kong I found an old and somewhat run-down cinema which played films from the 90s as well as some of the classic Hong Kong ghost movies. So far I haven't been able to find it again. Can anyone tell me the location of such a place, or one similar?

When I lived in Jordan (area in HK, not the country), there was an old, dilapidated cinema on kwun chung street. Though it only played porn films...

surprisingly, during the time of release of 3d sex and zen which was the biggest film import from HK in recent years, maybe the cinema should off upgraded it's projectors to cash the coach loads of mainlander 3d sex and zen tourist (banned in mainland) as this was a big hit

yes, it was crap film, but it didn't stop tens of thousands of mainlanders coming here to watch it, there were tours for this film organized from major cities in china, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, a very sad fact

The same thing happen when HK showed the (uncensored) version of Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution" a few years back. On the mainland they cut out the politically sensitive and sex scene parts (no doubt the big selling point for many ), so naturally, I remember half of the cinema was talking in mandarin.

If I'm not mistaken, there were more of those "old" or "falling apart/poorly maintained" cinemas 20 years ago, when the HK film industry was at the peak of it's "golden era". Of course, as gunroses hinted, there were also alot more "cat III" local porn flicks back then, which would explain how these cinemas manage to cling on to business. The decline in those movies combined with rising rent/gentrification has driven out most of these cinemas.

Someone should compile a list of existing "old" cinemas that remains in HK, assuming some of they are still around.
